Shalom! I’m Mayim Coralyn Vega, and I’m excited to share my first-ever welcome video, now transformed into this blog, to introduce myself to anyone new to my social media world—whether you’re joining me on Facebook, YouTube, Rumble, Brighteon, or beyond. I’ve never done a welcome like this before, so let me invite you into my life, my passions, and my mission to inspire holistic health, faith, and financial freedom.
My Name is Mayim: A Reflection of Water and Faith
My name, Mayim, means “water” in Hebrew, a name my husband chose for me when I converted to Judaism. As an Orthodox Jew, my faith is the heartbeat of my life. My birth name, Coralyn, echoes this watery theme, meaning “maiden of the waterfall” or “pool.” Perhaps it’s fitting—water is life-giving, adaptable, and ever-flowing, much like the holistic healing I practice. I’m also a fan of Mayim Bialik, the Jewish neuroscientist and actress, and like her, I’m a scientist by training, with a degree in computer science.
Born in the Philippines, I moved to California before kindergarten and now live in Texas. I’ll admit, I’m not thrilled about the Texas weather, but the state’s spirit of freedom resonates deeply with my values. As a homeschooling mom of nine children—my oldest, born in 2003, just finished college—I juggle a lot, often working late into the night. I’m a night owl, and I’ve been dreaming of starting a podcast called “Midnight with Mayim” to share my thoughts at these quiet hours. This welcome video, recorded at midnight, feels like the perfect kickoff!
A Holistic Healer Rooted in Ancient Wisdom
I’m a holistic healer, specializing in naturopathic herbalism and holistic life coaching. Naturopathic herbalism is the ancient art of healing, predating modern doctors. Herbalists use every part of the plant—roots, bark, leaves, flowers, essential oils—and sometimes even animal products, as seen in traditional Chinese medicine. But it’s not just about plants. Holistic healing embraces rest, diet, fasting, and detoxification from environmental toxins, harmful foods, toxic mindsets, and unhealthy relationships.
I also practice orthomolecular nutrition, or megadose vitamin therapy, which uses high doses of vitamins to support the body’s natural healing. These tools—nutrition, detoxification, and classical herbalism—are grounded in thousands of years of wisdom and form the core of my work at Arukah.com, where I train students to become confident holistic healers. My approach is truly holistic, addressing mind, body, and spirit. My faith in God is inseparable from this work. Despite pressure to separate my Judaism from my business, I believe spirituality is essential to healing—it’s the spirit in “mind, body, and spirit.”
From NASA to Entrepreneurship: A Leap of Faith
My journey is anything but typical. I started as a computer scientist at NASA’s Ames Research Center in Silicon Valley, working on cutting-edge projects. But when my first son was born in 2003, I knew I couldn’t leave him with a babysitter for eight hours a day—it felt unnatural. So, I left NASA to become a stay-at-home mom and entrepreneur, a daunting move in one of the world’s most expensive regions.
My husband was skeptical, worried we couldn’t afford it. But I was determined. With faith and hard work, I built an online business that not only replaced my NASA income but surpassed it—all while homeschooling my nine children and working flexible hours. Since leaving NASA, I’ve never worked a traditional eight-hour day, yet I’ve achieved financial freedom. This freedom lets me be present for my kids, set my own schedule, and work from anywhere—time freedom, location freedom, and financial freedom.
Empowering Women and Entrepreneurs
As a conservative Jewish woman, I’m passionate about showing others—especially women—that you can be a devoted mother, a godly wife, and a thriving entrepreneur. The “woman of valor” in Proverbs 31 inspires me—she was a businesswoman, buying real estate and selling goods in the marketplace. She embraced ambition with integrity, and so do I. I’m not afraid to talk about money or strive for wealth, as long as it’s earned honestly. My dream is for my children, especially my daughters, to be financially independent, knowing life is unpredictable, and relying solely on a spouse or job isn’t enough.
On my social media, I share this blend of holistic health, faith, and entrepreneurship. My Arukah Facebook page focuses on holistic healing, while my Hebrew with Mayim page explores Torah, Hebrew lessons, and Jewish life coaching. On YouTube and my personal Facebook, I’m an open book, discussing everything from health to politics (I’m proud to be part of the Dallas Jewish Conservatives) to business coaching. My experience as a NASA scientist, homeschooling mom, and entrepreneur equips me to coach others in health, life, and business.
A Call to Create Value and Trust God
At my core, I believe that if you create value, serve others, and trust God, you can achieve anything. Whether you’re healing your body, building a business, or raising a family, it starts with faith—faith that God will bless your efforts. I’m proof that you can surpass a high-flying career like NASA’s while working part-time from home, raising nine kids, and staying true to your values.
So, welcome to my world! Whether you’re here for holistic health, spiritual inspiration, or entrepreneurial tips, I’m thrilled to connect. Follow me on Facebook, YouTube, Rumble, or Brighteon, and visit Arukah.com to explore my holistic healing programs. Let’s build a life of health, freedom, and purpose together. Shalom!
